Christopher’s approach to teaching encompasses the entire cultural production process to create a learning experience that places the background and strengths of the student performers at the centre of the work, while rigorously applying performance and critical thinking techniques to develop both skill level and imaginative capacity. Students are encouraged to take control of what they wish to communicate to their audience and which tools they should use to attain their goal.

Christopher has taught acting, writing and peformance-making as Associate Lecturer – Performing Arts at Anglia Ruskin University, as an Acting Tutor for Arts Educational Schools and Rose Bruford College (London) and at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (Australia). He was Teaching Artist-in-Residence at NIDA, La Salle College of the Arts and James Cook University.

In these roles, and in other freelance teaching work in the tertiary sector in Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom over the last 18 years, Christopher has designed and/or taught subject modules and short courses including:

Acting for the Contemporary Australian Stage

Performance Fundamentals for the Music Theatre stage

Christopher’s productions for student actors and his educational performances on Shakespeare, are conceived as learning and development projects – meetings between two social and cultural worlds, that of the text, and that of the students working on that text.
